We are in full swing gearing up for this year's Pear-a-dise on Sunday, August 13th, from 1-5 pm. Beacon Arts, in partnership with Beacon Hill Garden Club, will be celebrating the pear harvest in the 100-year old pear orchard at Garden House. This event starts several weeks beforehand with volunteers gleaning fallen pears from the Garden House lawn. They turn those into yummy treats to share at the event including pear sorbet and salsas. It culminates by inviting our neighbors in to pick pears, share recipes, and learn more about gardening. It's family fun for all ages!

Interested in your community group have a table at the event? It's free and great for outreach. Send us an email.

Interested in volunteering? You can help:

  • Glean fallen fruit a few weeks before
    the event.

  • Do some creative cooking with those pears that will be shared at the event.

  • Help with the event on the day, we can always use extra hands setting up and breaking down.

New entertainment this year...

Two of Wands

Short performances sprinkled from 1-3pm, with the larger show with live music at 4pm.

In celebration of the harvest, Two of Wands weaves dance, circus arts and live music pollinated with American craft, folk mythos, and heightened natural imagery. Audience members are invited to drive the show through rhythmic, vocal and physical participation. Directed and Choreographed by internationally performing artists Lara Paxton and Jill Marissa, the show includes former members of Circus Contraption, ticktock, and The Aerialists.

Check out photos from the 2016 harvest!

Growing Pains Project invites you to share your cultural traditions and history at the event as part of our summer long conversation about re-development. Artists will be on hand to help document the traditions and celebrations that are the foundation of our neighborhood.
