Beacon Arts is the Lead Organization for Seattle Office of Arts and Culture's Neighborhood Recovery Grant. Our community selection committee reviewed 22 applications and selected the following 11 projects  to recieve funds. Please support their work and attend their events this spring and summer!

oor screenings at El Centro de la Raza's Roberto Maestas Plaza that will be free and open to the public.

Somali Family Safety Task Force 
Intergenerational Family Art Workshop
Starting July 14 2023 for 5 Fridays:
Somali Family Safety Task Force will provide a free intergenerational art workshop held once a week for 5 weeks between July 5- August 9, 2023. Exact days/times TBD as facility scheduling allows. Workshops will last 3 hours and consist of storytelling circles, music and movement games, art projects, and culturally appropriate food. Activities will be held in the New Holly Family Building.

ReVision Arts 
Please Touch --Art Equity, Resilience, & Collaboration
July 12 - August 30, 2023: Workshops at H
oa Mai Preschool in Mount Baker with juried/non-juried show and Beacon Hill show scheduleded for July 29-30 at El Centro de la Raza.

Please Touch is an annual event in its 9th year. There will be an open call for art. Jurors with disabilities will curate the selections. Audio descriptions of the artwork as well as, braille, and large print identify each art piece. The Please Touch tactile exhibit will be held in a venue that is wheelchair accessible and meets ADA guidelines
. All these creations will be included in the Non juried section of the Please Touch exhibit.

Tai Chi at Benefit Park

ekly outdoor classes:
The Tai Chi at Benefit Park program will offer the public free, Covid-19 friendly, beginner Tai Chi classes at Benefit Park on Beacon Hill. The classes will be offered once a week in the evening, from the beginning of July 2023 through the end of August.

Jefferson Advisory Council (JAC)

Jefferson JumpStart Concerts are an annual event bringing live music to Beacon Hill, with four free weekly concerts staged in the Jefferson Park Amphitheater.

Rizal Park and Bridge Preservation Society
Rizal Park Jazz Festival
Aug 13, 2023:
The Rizal Park Jazz Festival is a free community event on north Beacon Hill. The festival is an all day event featuring local musicians, artists and food vendors. Our initial purpose was to create awareness through out the city and contributing to the pride and cohesiveness of the Filipino Community and surrounding Asian communities( as the park is near Chinatown/ International District). We have cultural dances, traditional songs and we showcase Filipino/Asian jazz musicians. The events is from 12pm-7pm with a line up of 6-7 bands. We also usually feature 1-2 food vendors specializing in filipino food, filipino vendors and non profit informational booths.

The Williams Project
I Am Beacon (Where I Belong): A Performance Festival
August, 2023:
The Williams Project will produce a multiple day performance of a staged reading of a play all centered around themes of unconventional but intentional community-building and belonging.
